The motto of 2012 is
“ Beers of the region of the Baltic Sea “
The festival beers of 2012 are from
Störtebecker – Braumanufaktur Stralsund and from Baltika- Brauerei in St. Petersburg.
Last year on the occasion of the 15th Berlin Beer Festival we set up a new Guinness World Record with the longest beer garden of the world having a length of 1,820 metres.

The motto of the 16th International Berlin Beer Festival is Beers of the Region of the Baltic Sea. The festival is taking place from 3rd to 5th August 2012. The beer mile where customers can enjoy their beers is 2.2 km long. It is located along Karl-Marx-Allee between Strausberger Platz and Frankfurter Tor.
The festival beers “Atlantic Ale”, “Störtebeker Stark Bier”, “Störtebeker Weizen” and “Störtebeker Roggen Weizen” are from Störtebeker Braumanufaktur in Stralsund.
The biggest Russian Brewery Baltica in St. Petersburg is bringing the festival beer of “Baltica Export” to Berlin.
The predecessor of the Stralsunder Braumanufaktur (Stralsund Brewery Manufacture) was founded in 1827.
With its brewery tradition of 800 years the brewery in the Hanseatic town at Strelasund is also offering a fair amount of adventure besides a great enjoyment of beer.
Each gulp (mouthful) of beer also reminds of the legend of the pirat-captain who as a member of the victuals brothers (Vitalienbrüder) fought for justice.
The brewery of Baltica was founded in 1990.As soon as in 1996 it was the number one at the Russian beer market. Since 2002 there has been a German subsidiary company. Baltica beers have already got numerous international awards. In different years Baltika Nr. 6 Porters and Baltica Cooler gained the European Star Award. Thus the waves of the Baltic Sea are creating quite a stir at this year´s popular beer mile.
More than 2000 beer specialities from 300 breweries from 86 countries are waiting for their beer lovers.
National and international artists are providing for entertainment offering attractive live music and shows. And all this is at free admittance !
The organiser, PRÄSENTA Ltd., and its spiritual sponsor the Association of Private Breweries Germany e.V. estimate that about 800,000 visitors and tourists from all over the world will come to the festival during its 3 days of duration. As every year, the International Berlin Beer Festival is carried out in close co-operation with the municipal district of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg.
