In 2011, on the occasion of the 15th International Berlin Beer Festival, a new Guinness World RecordTM was set up. This year two traditional breweries from North Rhine-Westfalia are at the centre of attention. The private brewery Ernst Barre is celebrating its 175th anniversary this year and is presenting its speciality Barre Pilsener. Barre Brew is a brewery from the town of East-Westphalian Lübbecke in the district of Minden-Lübbecke in the Wiehengebirge. This traditional brewery was founded by Ernst Johann Barre in 1842 and is an important trade-mark throughout the region of Barre-Land. Another festival beer brought to Berlin is Zunft Kölsch brewed by Erzquell Brewery Bielstein. Bielstein is a district of the town of Wiehl. This brewery has been owned by the family for four generations. It was founded in 1900, named Adler Brauerei GmbH. A second location is the 125-year-old Erzquell Brewery at Siegtal at the foot of Giebelwald.
