18th International Berlin Beer Festival
from August 1st to 3rd, 2014
craft-brewed beer specials
From the 1st to the 3rd August the 18th International Berlin Beer Festival is taking place at the traditional area along Karl-Marx-Allee, between Strausberger Platz and Frankfurter Tor. About 800.000 visitors from all over the world will meet in Berlin at “the world’s longest beer garden”. On 2.2 kilometres visitors will find 340 breweries from 87 countries presenting 2.400 different varieties of beer. 22 beer regions do not only offer local beer brands but also culinary specialities, and on 20 stages national and international bands will delight the festival with live music. All that, visitors can enjoy with free admission.
The motto of 2014 is “craft-brewed beer specials”. More than 300 new craft beers from the USA, Italy, France, Argentina, Norway and Nepal will be introduced.
Four different craft beers are highlighted as the festival beers of 2014. The Bavarian brewery Frankenwälder Brauhaus from Naila is going to present BIERoLO light. The brewery wants to demonstrate that there can be new taste adventures even with beers that are brewed after the Reinheitsgebot from 1516. The festival beer Wipprator is a new interpretation of the historical Doppelbock beer and is part of the gourmet beers of the Wippraer EDEL-Biere. The beer is brewed at the traditional brewery in Wippra in the Harz mountains. The Störtebeker Brewery from Stralsund is going to present its Atlantik-Ale as festival beer which is a strongly hopped ale. The fourth festival beer is the American STILPA from St. Louis’ Urban Chestnut Brewing Company. It is a characteristic American Double IPA brewed by a German brew master.
Additionally to these festival beers, the International Berlin Beer Festival is presenting
COCO D’OR, a new special beer with a pronounced acidity similar to Berliner Weisse or Leipziger Gose. It is brewed at the SchwarzwaldGold Braumanufaktur e.K. from Vörstetten, Baden-Württemberg. The beer comes in “champagne” bottles and is best enjoyed iced.
